| 3 | الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ | About which they cannot agree. | About which they differ? | Concerning which they are in disagreement. |
| 4 | كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ | Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! | Nay! they shall soon come to know | Nay, but they will come to know! |

| 6 | أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا | Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse. | Have We not made the earth an even expanse? | Have We not made the earth an expanse. |
| 7 | وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا | And the mountains as pegs? | And the mountains as projections (thereon)? | And the high hills bulwarks? |
| 8 | وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا | And (have We not) created you in pairs. | And We created you in pairs. | And We have created you in pairs. |
| 9 | وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا | And made your sleep for rest. | And We made your sleep to be rest (to you). | And have appointed your sleep for repose. |
| 10 | وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا | And made the night as a covering. | And We made the night to be a covering. | And have appointed the night as a cloak. |
| 11 | وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا | And made the day as a means of subsistence? | And We made the day for seeking livelihood. | And have appointed the day for livelihood. |
| 12 | وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا | And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments. | And We made above you seven strong ones. | And We have built above you seven strong (heavens). |
| 13 | وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا | And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? | And We made a shining lamp. | And have appointed a dazzling lamp. |
| 15 | لِنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا | That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables. | That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs. | Thereby to produce grain and plant. |
| 16 | وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا | And gardens of luxurious growth? | And gardens dense and luxuriant. | And gardens of thick foliage. |
| 17 | إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا | Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed. | Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed. | Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time. |
| 21 | إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا | Truly Hell is as a place of ambush. | Surely hell lies in wait. | Lo! hell lurketh in ambush. |
| 22 | لِلطَّاغِينَ مَآبًا | For the transgressors a place of destination. | A place of resort for the inordinate. | A home for the rebellious. |
| 23 | لَابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَابًا | They will dwell therein for ages. | Living therein for ages. | They will abide therein for ages. |
| 24 | لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا | Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. | They shall not taste therein cool nor drink | Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink |
| 25 | إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا | Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold. | But boiling and intensely cold water. | Save boiling water and a paralysing cold. |
| 26 | جَزَاءً وِفَاقًا | A fitting recompense (for them). | Requital corresponding. | Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). |
| 27 | إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا | For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds). | Surely they feared not the account. | For lo! they looked not for a reckoning. |
| 29 | وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا | And all things have We preserved on record. | And We have recorded everything in a book. | Everything have We recorded in a Book. |
| 32 | حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا | Gardens enclosed, and grapevines. | Gardens and vineyards. | Gardens enclosed and vineyards. |
| 33 | وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا | And voluptuous women of equal age. | And voluptuous women of equal age. | And voluptuous women of equal age. |
| 34 | وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا | And a cup full (to the brim). | And a pure cup. | And a full cup. |
| 36 | جَزَاءً مِنْ رَبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا | Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient. | A reward from your Lord, a gift according to a reckoning. | Requital from thy Lord - a gift in payment. |
