SURAH 82: AL-INFITAR (THE CLEAVING ASUNDER)

1 إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْفَطَرَتْ When the Sky is cleft asunder. When the heaven becomes cleft asunder. When the heaven is cleft asunder.
2 وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انْتَثَرَتْ When the Stars are scattered. And when the stars become dispersed. When the planets are dispersed.
3 وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth. And when the seas are made to flow forth. When the seas are poured forth.
4 وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ And when the Graves are turned upside down;. And when the graves are laid open. And the sepulchres are overturned.
5 عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back. Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back. A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
6 يَاأَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?. O man ! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one. O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful.
7 الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias. Who created you, then made you complete, then made you symmetrical? Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
8 فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. Into whatever form He pleased He constituted you. Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
9 كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment! Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day. Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
10 وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you. And most surely there are keepers over you Lo! there are above you guardians.
11 كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds). Honorable recorders. Generous and recording.
12 يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ They know (and understand) all that ye do. They know what you do. Who know (all) that ye do.
13 إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss. Most surely the righteous are in bliss. Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.
14 وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire. And most surely the wicked are in burning fire. And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell.
15 يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment. They shall enter it on the day of judgment. They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment.
16 وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ And they will not be able to keep away therefrom. And they shall by no means be absent from it. And will not be absent thence.
17 وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? And what will make you realize what the day of judgement is? Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
18 ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? Again, what will make you realize what the day of judgment Is? Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
19 يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلَّهِ (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah. The day on which no soul shall control anything for (another) soul; and the command on that day shall be entirely Allah's. A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.
