Quran - Arabic text and English translation/interpretation

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ

Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with the possessors of the elephant?

Hast thou not seen how thy Lord dealt with the owners of the Elephant?

أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ

Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray?

Did He not cause their war to end in confusion.

Did He not bring their stratagem to naught.

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ

And He sent against them Flights of Birds.

And send down (to prey) upon them birds in flocks.

And send against them swarms of flying creatures.

تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ

Striking them with stones of baked clay.

Casting against them stones of baked clay.

Which pelted them with stones of baked clay.

فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَأْكُولٍ

Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up.

So He rendered them like straw eaten up?

And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)?
